I would like to announce a few things regarding the upcoming 2008/2009 year change and BrainKing game site:

• 1st January 2009 is set as a system holiday. It means that no timeout events can happen during that day, just to ensure that any possible vacation issues would be resolved on time. So if you try to set this day at your Settings / Calendar page as a vacation day and you cannot, it is not a bug.
• BrainKing has been improved to handle all New Year system-level details automatically, which means that no scheduled downtime is necessary this time. Unless some unexpected problems occur (and nothing like that is expected), the site should be up and running through all holidays.
• The vacation counters will be reset to initial values of the particular membership levels (35 days for Brain Rooks etc.) for all BrainKing users on 1st January 2009. If somebody notices a problem with that, please contact me ASAP.

Well, that's all. Almost. I have succeeded to release a game no. 126 yesterday, its name is Cam and it is a smaller variant of Camelot. I guess that many regular BrainKing users remember that our site used to announce a special membership discount (or bonus) action every year during Christmas time. Well, this year IS an exception and instead of making the usual bonus event (since we already had it in November and even twice), a new game which was not planned at all has been released just a while ago.

The 125th game type is called Racing Kings and it is a very interesting and original Chess variant, invented by Vernon R. Parton in 1961. Since the game objective is to move own king to the last row (and do it faster than the opponent), this variant could be a good choice for players who are familiar with standard Chess rules and want to try a "race" instead of "deep strategy" type of game (on the other hand, some kind of strategy is always a plus).

And since a Christmas present should not be given unfinished, the game rules have been posted as well.

This is just an informative articles for all BrainKing users who still have problems to pay for a paid membership level due to "I have no credit card" issues. Everybody else can skip it at all.

• Once the funds reach your PayPal account, you can place an order through BrainKing Shopping Cart system and have your membership level instantly activated.
